Anyone who has a family will understand the dilemma of what car to buy. Gone are the days when you can leave the house footloose and fancy free, right from having your first born there's the car seat, the pram, the baby bag stuffed with nappies, clean clothes, bibs and wet wipes and that's just if you need to pop to the shops. If you ever go and stay anywhere then there's not only your overnight bag, there's your partners, your babies, the car seat, pram, baby bag, cot, high chair to name just a few, so storage space is critical. Then there's where to put the baby seat, some mothers prefer it in the front but you have to make sure that if there is an air bag fitted it can be disabled, whilst others prefer it in the back, this will then make you decide on whether it's a three door or five door you go for. Couple this with whether you are planning on extending your family, you might pose the question: Shall we just go for a large family car now and be done with it? By opting for a large MPV or family car when you are pregnant with your first born, you are ensuring that when your family does grow you will be well equipped with the vehicle you already have, familiar with the car and its running costs and know that as the back seats get fuller you can accommodate them. Comfort over style will probably prevail and the need for added extras may be higher on the priority list than before such as air conditioning, foldable seats, heated windows and cup holders. Anything that makes your journeys with young ones more comfortable is a bonus. Economy will become even more important, miles per gallon, annual tax fees, services and MOT's will all be things to consider with your family car. A growing family equates to growing outgoings so taking into consideration the outlay cost of the car and its running costs are just as important as the look, size and the luxuries the right family car offers. |
